Nelson Jay, Auctioneer
Fundraising Auctioneer Nelson Jay is a graduate of the Missouri Auction School and the University of Washington. He is a member of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) and holds the Benefit Auctioneer Specialist (BAS) designation from the NAA. In July 2016 Nelson will be a presenting speaker at the 67th Annual NAA Conference and Show in Grand Rapids, MI and on the host committee of the 2016 NAA Benefit Auction Summit in San Diego, CA.
Auctioneer Nelson helps not-for-profits, foundations, trade associations, schools and a wide array of charitable organizations raise money, raise friends and retain donors with proven fundraising tactics, humor, style and witty repartee.
Nelson is an avid cyclist and has had the opportunity to ride in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Massachusetts, and internationally in Canada, Scandinavia, France and Japan. He is a current member of Team R4C, a Seattle-based cycling club that raises funds for causes and cure research by riding several century (100-mile) rides each year.
“I believe cycling is a great metaphor for both life and fundraising – be prepared, stick together, help each other, work hard, keep moving, and be prepared to suffer a bit – the outcome makes it all the more worthwhile,” says auctioneer Nelson.
Nelson lives in Seattle with his wife Tiffany and three children. Away from the auction block, you can find Nelson somewhere in the outdoors with his family – cycling, skiing, hiking, traveling or tending the backyard hens.
“To be the Northwest’s premier ski racing program,
developing athlete skills and character for life.”
